Iran Strike Timing: A Promise With an Expiration Date

David’s question: “Yeah, let's talk about the post-midterm strike. Well, first of all, why is he waiting for the midterms?”

Eve: “Mostly politics. A strike that sends oil past a hundred-twenty or gets US troops killed in the final stretch would hand Democrats a gift two weeks before voters go to the polls. He's already said it outright — the war ends right after November third. There's also Israel's election on October twenty-seventh, and he's endorsed Netanyahu, so the sequencing serves both campaigns. The cynical version is that he's optimizing for Republican seats, not for Iran policy. The slightly less cynical version is that he genuinely believes a post-election shock will force capitulation before a new Congress can constrain him. Either way, the calendar is doing more strategic work than the bombs are right now. The part that should make people nervous is that "we won't strike before the election" is a promise with a built-in expiration date, not a principle.”

David’s question: “You know, I, honestly I don't love the, the name of the podcast. Could we, uh, I wonder if we could do something with Eve or Grok, uh, or, uh, yeah. Like maybe we lean into, uh, your, uh, your identity because, you know, I'm just some dude asking questions but, uh, you're really who is on stage.”
